Relationships are the most integral part of your life . Right from childhood to adulthood you learn so much by building relationships. These don’t have to be among couples. But it could be a bond you share with your family, friends or among any two people. Relationships are an important part of your growth. There is so much to learn and so much to share. Here are a few points that you must exercise while building relationships and making them work:-

  1. Listen

Listening is a skill you must learn in a relationship. Everybody wants to be heard, so you must understand that and listen. Listen with a open heart and ears. Be neutral and rational and put yourself in the speakers shoes. The more you listen in a relationship, the stronger will it be.

  1. Trust

Trust is the most important factor especially among couples. With trust comes mutual understanding. Trust brings two people closer. If you do not trust each other in a relationship, the relationship is not a healthy one. If you trust others, they will trust you. Work on self doubt.

  1. Compromise

It’s a busy world. A relationship does not work without compromise. It is all about a give and take. Do not just keep expecting without giving the same amount in return. If you want both parties to be happy, you must compromise.

  1. Respect

If you want to be treated respectfully, you must respect the other person in a relationship. Loving your partner is not an excuse to abuse another in a relationship. Love unconditionally.

  1. Communication

Communication is the key to a successful relationship. The more you communicate, the healthier will you be. It is good to let out, whether it is about you or the other person in the relationship. Communication should have both ways. Ask questions, understand, negotiate and be honest while you communicate. This will help resolve conflicts effectively, too.

  1. Support

Supporting your partner in a relationship is healthy in a relationship. You must be there for your loved one, friend or family in times of crisis. People may be independent but they might need your support. Do not just accompany during happy times but sad times as well. Let them share their burden. That is how the journey gets easier.

  1. Need for love

The need for love and belonging is the top of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Everyone wants to be loved. And therefore, any kind of a relationship surely wants love but there is so much more to it. Love and be loved. Everyone needs to get a taste of love in a relationship.

  1. Connection

Firstly to get in a relationship, you must connect. It is only when you click that you that you know you are on the same page. When you connect you can share your opinions, views without prejudice. Easy to work on a relationship, this way .
